It was a damp day out, but we were still able to take the Montessori Kids to the Fire Station. We walked over and a Police Officier helped us by stopping the traffic so we could cross Rt 5 without any accidents. FireFighter Mike DeFusco showed us around the firehouse and we were able to see where they relax, make dinner, and we got to go on all the trucks. It was so much fun. The kids got a kick out of it. We learned about calling 911, Stop-Drop-Roll, and the importance of fire drills at school and at home. Jack was so cute; when asked if his parents had fire drills at home he raised his hand and answered, "yes"...hey, he knows when to make his mom look good. While we were there the firemen were called out on 2 different emergencies so we were able to see how fast they really do get suited up and into the trucks. Overall, it was a fabulous field trip to promote fire safety/awareness month. Oh the kids received goody bags and helmets too....they loved it!
